ootdon't @ me

Things that have changed since my last outfit post:

  • my glasses
  • I got some new tattoos
  • I turned another year older
  • my family and I travelled to another continent (The Land Down Under)
  • I got to see another part of Asia (Indonesia)

Things that have stayed the same since my last outfit post:
  • I still wear glasses
  • I'm still blonde

Once every 83 years, I might document my outfit. This was an attempt. I was too lazy to go outside to take pictures, so I made do with my cramped (and messy) room with the help of my trusty wide angle lens (hence the weird proportions.... then again my proportions are pretty short, so what does that matter).

See you in another 83 years or so.

A man ate a seagull and then he died.

Gasp, an outfit post? Really? TRULY, IT IS 2016.

I wore this last Sunday when it was unnaturally chilly for Manila standards (hence the coat). While I wasn't planning on photographing this properly -- let alone blog about it, even -- I liked what I wore, but missed the chance to take a snapshot via mobile phone when the sun was still out. So, in a way, you could say I was almost 'forced' to document this outfit. Almost.

I don't remember what brand this shirt is from ('cause I totes suck at this blogging thing), but I know I got it from Hong Kong on sale some time ago. I like how it basically tells people to eff off, but the background print is still pretty hippy and fun and-

-2016 and I still suck at talking about my outfits. Seriously, while photographing this, I thought back on the time when I was HELLA dedicated to documenting my outfits and making blog posts on them. I honestly don't know how I managed to become so devoted, putting so much effort to photograph myself and what I wore for the day. On one hand, I want to get back to doing such, but on the other hand... meh.

And then, less than an hour after I had documented this outfit, I received a call from Terry telling me I was coming with her to visit some friends of hers. I suppose they're also friends of mine (??? to an extent, at most), but I had only hung out with half of them maybe one other time -- or perhaps two times before -- and y'all know how I've always felt about calling people my friends. Most times I refrain from using the label until I'm sure a certain degree of closeness has already been established, only because I don't want to seem like I'm overstepping boundaries a.k.a. feeling close.

It was already 4 AM when I got back to the house, the knowledge that I still had work in about two hours time slowly creeping its way into the back of my head. By the time I got to my room, I could barely keep my eyes open. I was exhausted -- mostly from all the laughter induced by the company I was with. The night was unexpectedly lively -- much more enjoyable than I had anticipated, to be honest -- and I think that made the lack of sleep all the more worth it.

Sometimes these spontaneous moments turn out to become very meaningful memories, and these days, having such happy feelings stirred within me -- while lovely -- have become rather fleeting in their existence. For my own sake, I need to come across them more often.

"How come you don't blog about your outfits anymore?"

Asked my mother, when I wore this outfit:

So, you know, I documented it.

Gap shirt | Greenhills tiangge skirt

Janilyn shoes | Topshop (gifted) socks

To be completely honest, once 2014 rolled in, I just could not be bothered to document my outfits. I could barely keep up with real life as it was -- what more the stuff I wore. I miss documenting my outfits though (I genuinely benefit from doing so, because it legitimately helps me remember life happenings better), especially outfit videos! Man, I haven't done that since 2013. I'll get back to that eventually.

Some outfit thing with flowers.

In lieu of my recent Gloomsville posts, I have decided to publish this bright, cheery, colorful, totes-way-opposite-of-how-I've-been-feeling-lately outfit from last month, because we all need some obnoxious saturation amidst rainclouds in our lives.

(But, let's face it, I prolly only felt like posting this because I was recently semi-submerged in the ~*~blogging~*~ scene again. It was for ~*~work~*~ I promise!!!)

I took an unofficial (?!? wat) hiatus from outfit blogging in the past few months because I seriously could not be bothered to document my outfits. That's really it. Besides ~*~real life~*~ making me lazy to even produce a proper outfit, the heat the past two months was HORRIBRU and I wasn't up to subjecting myself to becoming a molten puddle of sweat just to take pictures (or videos) of myself. Documentation of this outfit was even done by my dad (thanks Papa!). What'd I tell you about C A N N O T B E B O T H E R E D

What is up with all the peace signs though. Spread the love. Spread the peace. Spread the zen. Peace out.

Town of Cats

Zara Man top, Linea Italia skirt

Warning: the photos that follow may or may not become weirder as you progress through this post. Also, this was named after the Town of Cats story from Haruki Murakami's 1Q84. Reading about it in the book reminded me of the Ghibli film called The Cat Returns, but I have yet to actually see it. I've only seen a handful of Ghibli, really.

Hello! I haven't 'properly' taken any outfit shots lately, because I've been really lazy, and well it was a nice break, not being in front of the camera. A really, really nice break. But I missed documenting my outfits, and actually one of the reasons why I stopped was because I've been lazy-dressing lately, so a lot of my outfits weren't really document-worthy.

Anyway, I wore this last Sunday, and I was going for some ~*~Parisian chic~*~ again ahahaha. I guess it translated well enough, because my mom commented that I looked "very French" even if my skirt could pass as a school uniform counterpart. It's a really old skirt we got on sale years ago, and I've always called it my uniform skirt.

You know, I bet it was the stripes and hat that made the outfit look remotely 'French.' I mean, those are like, classic-generic-poster-child France archetypes. Oh, and bagels.

Topshop socks, Forever 21 shoes

American Surplus bag

I prolly have way too much cat stuff as it is, but when does one ever have too much cat things? I got this from the surplus shop in Pampanga my sister took us to (you can see snippets here) and... what else can I say about it? Tapestry cats. Perfection.

Apostrophe/from Hong Kong necklaces

Hey, Tofu. Wassap, Tofu. Ur cool, Tofu.

Forever 21/Marc by Marc Jacobs (gifted!!!!!) rings

Lol gaiz I have a ~*~Marc by Marc Jacobs~*~ ring, am I legit yet. Hahahaha lemme tell you it was a Christmas gift from one of my aunts, and man was it an unexpected gift. Like, really. I didn't even ask for it. When you move it around, all the flowers attached jiggle and it's fun and-

I should've prolly just filmed this outfit, so that you can see what I'm talking about, but too bad, I didn't have enough time to film this. Anyway, this ring is cool. I have cool aunts. (Thanks Tita Lisa!)

Mich Dulce x Bench hat

I'm telling you, it was the hat. And the stripes. Betcha this coulda been considered as one of those last minute go-to Halloween costumes. "Oh look, I'm wearing stripes! And this hat! I have a bagel with me too! Can you guess what I am?"

Dunno if you can tell, but my earrings are seahorses. You're probably too distracted by Tofu's heads to notice though.

The Totally-Irrelevant-But-I'm-Gonna-Blog-About-It-Anyway Christmas Eve 2013 Outfit Post

(That post title is a mouthful.) I'm not sure why I put off making this post for so long, and it's already February, but I figured, hey, it's something I wanna chronicle on my blog because it's something I wanna look back on, so why not post it even if it's already that time of the year when Christmas has already been succeeded by Valentine's Day.

Cotton On dress, Janilyn shoes

My mom and I found this dress on sale some time last year, and we both agreed that it would be my Christmas dress. There's something so regal about velvet, especially in this equally-regal emerald shade.

Vintage/Monki bracelets

H&M ...what do you call this? Earring thing? Ear-something?

These shoes though. Man, were they hard to walk in. Like, seriously, I had to watch myself in these. They were a bit painful to walk in, and so I concluded that they would be strictly for cocktail-like events. But when am I ever at those kind of gatherings?

Forever 21 necklaces

I haven't been blogging about my outfits lately, simply because I've been L A Z Y hahaha. I photographed and filmed one in December, but I never got around to editing it because I wasn't sure if I really wanted to put it up anymore. Maybe I will, one of these days, but I might scrap the video because it doesn't really feel like the kind of outfit I would dedicate time to make a video for, y'know?

This morning I felt kind of lousy, and I moped in bed for a good hour or two trying to decide what I wanted to do today. I wasn't in the mood to continue reading my book, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to play a video game, and getting on my laptop just seemed like a very unsavory prospect.

It was a weird morning. In the end, I went downstairs to our living room, picked up my book again, and read a couple of chapters. Then, riding on the encouragement of Alex, I picked up Kingdom Hearts again. It was between KH and Lightning Returns, but I wasn't really up to playing LR again just yet (because I've decided to restart on Easy Mode because I SUCK), but on the other hand, I left KH just before I had to go to Wonderland, and the last time I did that, I ended up nursing a headache. But I finished up the Wonderland chapter anyway, just before lunch.

And now I'm on the internet again, blogging about this. It's just a very off day, I guess.

Over the Shoulder

I am probably doomed to be in permanent blogging backlog since my first post for 2014 is an old outfit that isn't even from December, it's from November. SUCH IS MY LIFE

H&M blazer, Topshop top, Human Black skirt

Oh well. So how was your New Year's? I spent mine on the toilet, removing my food and drink intake both up and down because of an upset stomach, and my first day of 2014 was mostly spent in bed nursing a migraine that I woke up with. Holla 2014 yo.

Rebel Gear ring

Vintage/Forever 21 necklaces

I wanted to get some backlog outta the way first because of my Annual Post of Sap a.k.a. my year-ender recap, and I can't do that without posting my November-December monthly recaps. So. Priorities. Looking back, I apparently made my 2012 recap post in February 2013. Maybe we should make bets on how late I'll be with my 2013 recap this time.

Loveis shoes

My shoes have whiskas your argument is invalid.

B+AB tissue box holder

Yeah that's right. My purse is a tissue box holder. You only wish you were as cool as me.

My cousin asked me some time ago what I thought about this kindov look where you wear your blazer over your shoulders. I said, "I like how it looks, and I've always wanted to try it, but... it looks kinda hassling with the restraining movement and all. I'd prolly try it at some dinner event or something...?" In the end I tried it out in the mall. Final verdict: movement isn't really all that restraining, from what I remember, though I think I did have to fix my blazer's positioning every now and then.

Oh oh casually takes this intarwebz space to pimp out a newly-launched local business: check out Noun PH on Facebook and Instagram! They're pretty new so they need all the love they can get, what with the new year and all. I like how they market their pieces like a dictionary, giving descriptions to the names of the pieces. (Welp, they're called Noun for a reason.) I don't normally make online purchases (I can probably count with my fingers just how many times I've bought something from the internet -- excluding anything K-pop because usually I tag along with a friend who's ordering) because I AM JUST NOT MADE FOR ONLINE SHOPPING BECAUSE OF MY PARANOIA so I can't really attest to any of Noun's services or wtvr, seeing as I've never bought anything from them, but I'm plugging this for a friend because I'm tryna be a better person this 2014.

Just kidding on that last part. That just makes me look like I'm doing a ~*~good deed~*~ to make me feel better about myself, and we all know I'm secretly just part of the derp squad on the inTErnEts.

Prom 4.0

I've been to prom four times now.

From Hong Kong top/dress (worn underneath), Miss Selfridge dress, Thrifted shoes

Well, I didn't attend a prom four times, per se. The first and only one I really attended was my own, in my junior year of high school. The following year, as a senior, I had a partner-in-crime in an attempted crashing of our juniors' prom. The year after (or possibly the same year), I attended the debut of a friend, and the event room across ours was hosting a school's promenade, which we promptly crashed for about thirty seconds.

This year, my friend Jam thought it'd be fun to have a prom-themed birthday celebration, and I'm always game for themed anythings.

Zara earrings, from HK choker

If I had to relive my prom again, I would totally wear this. Maybe I'd switch the shoes for something more 'appropriate,' and maybe I'd ditch the choker too, only because my high school was very conservative. But besides those two things, I think this seems like a very 'prom' outfit, though still something I'd wear out (which I did, because Jam celebrated her birthday in Bonifacio High Street, and we ended the night at this bar called Rue Bourbon.) To be honest though, I thought prom was so overrated. Not Jam's theme, but my actual prom years ago. Everybody made such a big fuss over it. I didn't make an effort to go find some fancy dress (in fact, the dress I wore was something I just spotted at the department store- when I saw it, I simply thought, "Oh hey, this seems 'formal' enough.") and I didn't stress over it at all. It was no big deal to me then, and I don't regret that to this day. I didn't see the point in spending a notable amount of money on a dress that I'd probably only wear once... unless maybe said dress is my wedding dress or something. (Though my friends and I also joked that this outfit was my wedding dress for the night, heh.)

That said, I didn't spend a substantial amount of cash on this dress either. Miss Selfridge is pretty expensive for me, however this was on sale; it was around P800+ or so, which is pretty reasonable for something from Miss Selfridge. (If I remember right, my actual prom dress back then was probably around that price range too, if not less.) I really liked how feminine the dress was when I saw it, and when it was purchased, I suddenly realized I had something fitting for Jam's prom-themed birthday!

For makeup, I sorta played around with the colors of my dress and used some light blue shades on my eyes, then adding some silver eyeshadow below. Then for lips I just used a pale lavender with purple on the insides.

I'll blog about the actual celebration some other time, on a separate post. Thanks again for that night, Jam, and a belated happy birthday again! I love you!

Also, thank you Papa for taking my outfit pictures because I was too lazy to do my actual usual set up. And the sun was going down so I was pressed for time. Youz a lifesaver, appa.

Always the Flower Girl

And never the bride. Loljk that's totally wrong, but my outfit reminded me of flower girls and whatnot.

This is a megasuperold outfit, and I know for a fact that I wore this on the first of September. This was the weekend before I got sick, and during the whole dengue ordeal I was too sick to bring myself to the computer. After recovering I just wasn't up to post-processing or browsing much, and so ultimately I lost the groove of blogging things for a while. To this day I have yet to properly document another outfit I've worn.

Meh, better late than never.

Bought from a bazaar top, H&M dress, custom-made petticoat... thing

I think I've been a flower girl thrice, and I remember being really uncomfortable during all three times. Besides my irritation for formalwear, I also really hated being part of the entourage because I didn't want everyone's eyes on me. I was awfully shy as a kid.

I was part of the entourage again at the last wedding I attended, which was nearly a year ago. At that wedding, I was a bridesmaid for the first time, and while it was still awkward, it wasn't as bad as when I was a kid. (The first time I was a flower girl, I was crying the entire way down the aisle out of stage fright. I kid you not.) Being a bridesmaid was much more toxic, though.

K2 headband

One of these days I'd like to attend a wedding again, but this time as just a guest. It'd be interesting to come up with some 'wedding-appropriate' attire, especially when there's a motif! I really like dressing up when there's a theme involved, because not only are you given a vein of dressing to guide you, there are also restrictions, and it's always fun to work around those restrictions without compromising your own style.
